Rachel has worked as a director, actor, literary manager, and dramaturg. The constant? A passion for new play development. Recent Chicago-area directing credits include The Blue Hotel (City Lit), Chiaroscuro: A Study in Shadow (Bailiwick), Moonlight and Magnolias (Riverfront Theatre), 200 Bullets and 7 Poison Apples (n.u.f.a.n. ensemble),Typing Lear (Third Base Players), Next Stop Spinsterland (Not Quite Coy Productions), and numerous staged readings at Chicago Dramatists. Outside of Chicago, Rachel has directed for companies such as Iowa Summer Rep, Syracuse Stage, Hedgerow Theatre, Dreamwell Theatre, and the University of Iowa; she has also served as an interim literary manager for Long Wharf Theatre and Syracuse Stage. She is currently the Dramatic Literary Manager for Bailiwick Chicago. Rachel will be directing Under America for Mortar’s first season. She has a BA in Theatre from Grinnell College and an MFA in Directing from the University of Iowa.
